Focusing on the breath

Breath of life,
You ride the waves of life with me
in the rhythms of my communion with you.
You enter the comings and goings
of each day and in every prayer I breathe.
Whether I am in the stillness of quiet prayer
or in the fullness of the day's activity,
may your peace flow through my being.

(Check frequently for new prayer or inspirational quote)

"I am that living and fiery essence of the divine
substance that flows in the beauty of the fields,
I shine in the water;
I burn in the sun and the moon and the stars...
I sustain the breath of all living .
I breathe in the verdure, and in the flowers,
and when the waters flow like living things, it is I.
"

Background:

"Yoga is not a religion.  It is a physical discipline composed of specific, time-tested techniques that yield predictable positive changes in the human body.  I practice and teach classes grounded in a Christian meditation and prayer, as I believe that the practice of yoga seeks to engage not only the body but the mind and the spirit as well. Christ-centered yoga practice allows Christians to avail themselves of the many benefits of this ancient physical discipline while staying grounded in their own faith.  As a practitioner of yoga in the traditional Eastern setting, I found that I was uncomfortable and distracted trying to immerse  myself in a tradition that was not my own.  I felt the need to find ways to integrate the physical discipline into my prayer life. This is what led me to practice and teach from a Christian perspective."                                               --Cathy Chadwick
